Limburg-based collaboration with international ambition: ABN Cleanroom Technology and Nyxoah join forces in Liège
Bilzen / Liège – The Limburg-based family-owned company ABN Cleanroom Technology and medical technology company Nyxoah are joining forces to develop a brand-new production environment in Liège. This collaboration brings together two companies united by strong international growth ambitions and marks an important step in the further development of innovative medical technology in Europe.
Founded in 1996 by Rosaline Wijnen and Jo Nelissen, ABN Cleanroom Technology is a market leader in the design, construction, validation, connection, and maintenance of cleanrooms for the life sciences and high-tech sectors. By fully integrating these core activities within a single organization, the company has established a market leader position in the cleanroom market, delivering projects that are initiated entirely according to a Configure-to-Order PLUS approach.
Nyxoah, a publicly listed medtech company (Euronext Brussels/Nasdaq: NYXH) led by a Limburg-based CEO, develops therapies for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. The company is experiencing strong international growth and is preparing for a significant scale-up of its production capacity. In this context, Nyxoah plans to locate production for the European market at Légiapark in Liège, which will result in additional employment opportunities in the region.
For the realization of this new cleanroom infrastructure, Nyxoah deliberately selected ABN Cleanroom Technology. This decision was driven by two key factors. On the one hand, speed to delivery plays a decisive role: ABN Cleanroom Technology’s modular and well-thought-out approach enables the cleanroom to become operational within a short timeframe of 4 months. On the other hand, ABN offers clear added value in terms of scalability.
ABN Cleanroom Technology acts not only as an executing partner, but also as a strategic long-term partner supporting future growth. This approach closely aligns with ABN Cleanroom Technology’s Configure-to-Order PLUS concept. “With our Configure-to-Order PLUS model, we combine the speed of standardized building blocks with the flexibility of customer-specific processes,” says Olivier Van Walleghem, International Expansion Manager. “Customers receive a cleanroom that perfectly meets their current needs, while at the same time being prepared for future growth. Expanding, adapting, or adding capacity can be done without major impact on operational processes, which is essential for companies with international ambitions such as Nyxoah”.
The collaboration between the two companies also has broader positive effects. In addition to creating local employment in Liège, this project strengthens the region’s position as an attractive hub for medical technology and high-tech manufacturing. At the same time, it highlights the international expertise of Limburg-based companies and demonstrates how innovation, speed, and scalability can go hand in hand.
With this project, ABN Cleanroom Technology and Nyxoah together take an important step toward sustainable growth, industrial anchoring in Europe, and the further development of life-changing medical solutions. The collaboration confirms that shared ambitions and complementary expertise form the foundation for long-term success.
