ABN Cleanroom Technology delivers high-end cleanroom integration for imec’s next-generation chip machine

Bilzen / Leuven – ABN Cleanroom Technology has successfully designed and delivered the cleanroom infrastructure for the integration of one of the world’s most advanced chip machines at imec in Leuven. This installation, with an estimated value of approximately €400 million, marks a significant milestone in Europe’s ambition to play a leading role in the AI and semiconductor industry.

Within this project, ABN Cleanroom Technology developed a specialized “bubble” solution: a high-performance, locally controlled cleanroom environment seamlessly integrated into an existing facility. This approach made it possible to combine extreme precision requirements with minimal impact on the operational environment.

The successful realization confirms the strength of ABN’s CTO+ (Configure-To-Order Plus) approach. By engineering upfront, standardizing where possible, and customizing only where necessary, complex cleanroom projects are executed faster, more reliably, and more efficiently.

“This project perfectly demonstrates what CTO+ stands for: maximum predictability in an environment where margins for error are non-existent,” said Jo Nelissen.

With imec as a reference client and a strong position within the ASML ecosystem, ABN Cleanroom Technology sees its position in the European high-tech market strengthening at an accelerated pace. The growing demand for advanced cleanroom environments within the semiconductor industry underlines the strategic relevance of its integrated approach.

“This project confirms our structural positioning as a market leader in configure-to-order cleanroom solutions for capital-intensive high-tech and GMP applications. Where traditional engineering falls short in predictability, our approach makes the difference in speed, reliability, and scalability,” said Rosaline Wijnen, Co-CEO of ABN Cleanroom Technology.

ABN Cleanroom Technology continues to invest in innovative concepts and strategic partnerships to enable the next generation of cleanroom solutions.
